Layout: Core2 Beta - Back to Basics

Style: Core2 Beta
Best View:1024px wide and up. Optimized for screens that are between 1024px - 1280px wide.
Browsers Tested: Firefox 3.1, Opera 9.64 & IE 8 on Vista. Note: don't have a Mac for testing.
Navbar: Optional
Account Levels: All
Notes: Core 2 is still in beta release so this is just to tide people over until shiny official layouts come out.

Still very new to the style and it's been trial and error figuring out classes so drop me a note if something doesn't have any formatting all of a sudden (like screened comments, lol). Hope to do a liquid/elastic layout next :)

Views tested: recent entries, private entry post, above 18 post, reading view, community view, individual entry's comment page, quick comment, screened comment, individual comment form page, tags view, archive view and individual calendar month page.

On my DW journal, the width of the section in the middle where the entries seems to be smaller than what I see in the screencaps. I just went over my settings and everything is correct. I think. LOL. Looks to be anyway. is that section fixed width or variable? I use a wide screen 22" monitor and the smallness of the center section is mildy annoying.. suggestions for hacking the code are welcome. I haven't tried that as yet. :)

Thank you! I don't know much about codes, still trying to remember how to do a link or cut most days, but this was easy to follow. The pinned side pannel with the option to go to the top is nice.

Very pretty - I particularly like the recent/archive/etc icons - but it's way too wide for my browser. As in I can't actually see said icons in the live preview, because they're too far off the page. If you don't want it to auto-shrink (with such a wide layout, percentages are your friends!) it would be handy if you at least allowed a bottom-scrollbar.

This is very attractive, but I just thought I might mention: In addition to requiring a screen at least 1024 pixels wide, there's a height requirement, too. I do most of my web browsing on a netbook, so my usual resolution is 1024x600, and it's not enough to get the whole list of links on the sidebar unless I go to full screen mode. "Top of page" replaces tags, so the result is that I can't access the tags page or the previous entries.

Hi, I'm considering making use of this layout, but first I have a little issue to hopefully resolve. I noticed it Open Beta night, and held off reporting it because I figured there were more important things happening.

In some journals with this layout, I'm getting this error. It's not just me, either. I mentioned it to a few people on IRC, and a couple of other people were able to reproduce it in Firefox (I'm using XPlode and FF 3.0.10). I do not get the error when I load the same page in IE8.

Any idea what's up? And should I be asking here or dw_styles or what?

Thank you so much. That was much easier than inventing this myself - not that I'm capable in this lifetime.

In response to your ponderings about how it looks on a Mac . . . it is fine except that the bottom of "Comments" and "Leave a Comment" is cut off. In comparison to your screen cap, the iMac's image is shifted to the right of the screen. That pushes the "recent entries" into the house icon. The background color covers the entire screen rather than leaving the strip that was visible on your screen cap. If I knew how to do a screen cap, I'd show you a picture of it.

I just switched to this layout ("Light") and I wanted to say how much I love it. I love the little icons; I love the fixed position of the nav stuff; I love the little tabs that stick out for usernames and comm names. It is completely awesome!
