What are the best mobile-friendly styles?

I did check the tags before posting this, but I didn't see anything. There are a lot of styles that look great on a computer, but condense the text/entry area to a narrow vertical column when read on a mobile device. Mobility seems to be the best one for mobile (obviously) but I kind of hate the way it looks on a computer. Does anyone know a decent theme which allows for some customization (like custom backgrounds) but looks decent and reads decently on a mobile device? Or is there something I can throw into the custom CSS section of the customize theme page to fix this? I'd love to use the 5 AM theme, but it kind of looks like crap on my phone. Thanks in advance.

I still use solarbird's tweaks for the Practicality style, coexistence alpha, as the basis for my style. Every now and then I go back to check the official styles, but none of them are as good for mobile, IMO.

I went ahead and switched back to practicality. I was able to achieve a Geocities vibe with a Five AM theme that I adored, but it didn't look good at all on mobile.

With the caveat that I'm not a heavy mobile user AND I use site-skinned pages (Tropo Red) for my comment pages: I've been using Fluid Measure in Muted Seashore color scheme as my journal style for ages now, and it works decently well in mobile. I just read an entry today to my therapist from my phone, and it was a pleasant experience. Just thought I'd toss that one out there, but obviously YMMV if you are a heavy mobile user.

Fluid Measure is ok, but it's a bit too "already finished" for me. I like to tinker with stuff too much.

Any theme for Practicality, any theme for Patsy, any theme for Modular, any theme for Caravan, any theme for Heads Up, and definitely a lot more are really nice for mobile screens. Unfortunately the most I do with my themes is rearrange the modules and maybe tweak some colors, so I can't help you with changing the background.

I, of course, may have different values when assessing the "right fit" for a mobile screen. These ones are all incredibly readable and easy to follow.

I used Modular (Peach) for the longest time, both computer and mobile. It looks very nice. I used Patsy (Clay Deco) for some time as well with my own custom colors. Now, I'm using Practicality (Warmth). All three were fantastic on even my phone.
