EDIT: A Livejournal "version" can be found in my journal >>here<<

Instructions:
1. Go to the "Select Journal Style" page and choose "Blanket Peach" by clicking "Base Layouts" (it's the third one for me).
2. On the Customize Style page, make sure in the Modules section, Navigation is in the "Fixed" section, if it not already is; everything else in the "Column" Section.
3. In the Customize CSS section uncheck "Use layout's stylesheet(s)" and paste the code into the "Use embedded CSS" box and save your changes.
4. Please upload the images (IMAGE-1 & IMAGE-2) to your own host. Thanks. :)

adding a header image - please read carefully

first off, I did not intent for a custom header to be used with this layout. But because I have been asked for it, I came up with a workaround. It may not be perfect, but at least it gives the possibility to use a custom header. :) The code below is merely an example how to add a header, if you want the image to be larger or smaller, you must adjust the widths and heights accordingly. If you run into problems or have a question, don't hesitate to ask and I will do my best to assist. :)

to my knowledge, a separate header image (above the already existing one) cannot be added, but you can add a background image to #header>.inner. It lays underneath the journal and page title, so you might want to include your preferred journal name in the header image and remove those parts from the code. Also, for the exact code below to work, your header must be exactly 640 x 200 px. If you want it to be larger or smaller than suggested, you must adjust the values in other parts of the code as well (please follow the additional step 3 in that case).

Step 1: copy the code below and replace the original code with it. Put the URL to your image where it says "URL TO YOUR IMGAE HERE" and adjust the background colors if needed.

#header {width:640px; height:200px; margin: 0 auto 2em auto; background: #000000; }
#header>.inner {width:639px; height:200px; background: #000000 url(URL TO YOUR IMGAE HERE);padding:1px;}

Setp 2: look for the code below and add the bolded parts. You can leave the rest, if you want to remove the header later and return to the original one, otherwise, you can remove it.

div#header h1#title {display:none; font-weight: normal; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 0; padding: 0; margin: 0; color: #aaaaaa; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 1.3em;}
div#header h2#subtitle {display:none; font-weight: normal; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing: 1px; padding: 0; margin: 0; color: #aaaaaa; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 1em;}
div#header h2#pagetitle {display:none; font-weight: normal; text-transform: uppercase; letter-spacing: 1px; padding: 0; margin: 1em 0 0 0; color: #c8c8c8; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 1em;}

this gives you:

additional Step 3: if you want your header to be larger or smaller in width than suggested above, you must change the values accordingly in other parts of the code as well, I have put them below. Just replace "YOUR WIDTH" with the preferred width for the content, navigation and footer:

#primary {width: YOUR WIDTH; margin: 0 auto; z-index: 0; padding: 0;}
#secondary {width: YOUR WIDTH; margin: 0 auto; z-index: 0; padding: 0; background-color: #ffffff;}

also, you must push your content lower if you want your header to be larger or smaller in height as well. Just replace the bolded part with your preferred spacing amount and add the other three zeroes.

#content {padding: 0; margin: 0 0 0 0;}

combine both parts in step 3 if you want it to be larger or smaller in height and width. :)

Like I said above, if this is too confusing or you need help with adding the image, don't hesitate to ask. I hope I did this right. :)

This is my first layout for dreamwidth and I'm a little nervous posting it, so please be gentle. ;)

This is spectacular! Very much what I've been looking for.

The picture you link to called Blacklilydot is coming up as a blank screen. Is that intentional?

Thank you for your work on this and the clear instructions and code. I'm going to give it a try and will credit.

so this layout! I love it. I'm using your skeletal structure and modifying some other things...I'm trying to copy my old much-loved layout from [livejournal.com profile] abigail_nicole and this one is the closest I've found so far. I've made a few modifications, but it's now my default, thank you!

Hello! Brand spanking new here.

I love your layout. Its beautiful and matches an old desktop theme I always wanted to have, but never got. Anyway, I was installing, I noticed your instructions said to save the two images to your own host but left it at that. However, you can easily copy and paste your CSS code since you have the existing image URLs there and have it work without doing any image uploads. Its too easy for lazy people to just use your images instead of their own. As a friendly suggestion, in my limited experience, I've seen people edit the URL in the code to say something like "BACKGROUND_URL_GOES_HERE" or something of that nature, so that the rest of us don't go lazily leeching off someone's bandwidth.

I used your layout for 1680x1050 resolution, and ended up with a visible margin on the right side. (which i expected since it wasn't a recommended resolution) ^^; I ended up centering the image instead, and making the background black to hide the two margins. It's a fair workaround, but it's not as nice as your original layout - which is what I prefer. Any chance you have an alternative solution? I tried resizing the background image to 1680 but tinypic prefers to shrink them to 1600 no matter what I try. Hope you can help

Hi! This is an absolutely gorgeous layout - very serene! Thank you for making it!!

A quick question . . . that may have a not-so-quick answer. I'm a totally n00b at customizing layouts, do you have any suggestions on how to customize this layout on LJ? Any help you can give would be very much appreciated!

Many thanks :)

Sorry to delete and repost this. I thought I had it fixed, but I didn't.

When I view my journal, the background cuts off and you can see the light green behind it, but when I view your journal in the same browser window, it doesn't do that? I'm probably just screwing something up, but I can't figure out what.

Let me start by saying /BEAUTIFUL/ layout! I've been using it for about a week and a half now. But I just found something that I'm not smart enough to fix. I only know enough about coding to be able to have tweaked font size/color, and to change the background image to one I took down in Yosemite.

Anyway! Onto my question =) I was setting up a work-around for texting in entries from my phone, and commented on my test entry. I noticed that there's no background boxes on the comments when you click to the entry from the main journal page. If you're linked directly to the entry and click reply, it works perfectly.

I took a screenshot of it. http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/2546/commentbackground.png

Is there any way for me to fix that? =) Even then, it's not the BIGGEST issue in the world, but for people commenting on my stuff, I bet it'd be a little annoying lol.

Either way, thank you in advance for any help, and thank you SO MUCH for making such an amazing layout ^_^ <3 I've credited you both on my "new layout yay" entry and also on my profile =)

I hope you don't mind but I modified it a bit for my journal/account. I'll definitely be giving credit.

This is wonderful, thank you. I've used it for my journal, although I've tinkered with it a bit - I've credited you in my profile, so I hope that's alright.

I was wondering: is there a way to make the header box transparent, like the 'Previous 20' box is?
